Water – A Vital Resource – The Beauty of Nature

Dear friends of the arts, ladies and gentlemen,

we are delighted to open the art project “Water – A Vital Resource – The Beauty of Nature” (“Wasser – lebensnotwendige Ressource – Schönheit der Natur”) on 22 June 2013 at the Löwenpalais of the Stiftung Starke in Berlin-Grunewald. The art project is taking place at the Paul-Dessau-Gesamtschule in Zeuthen, with upper-secondary students, under the direction of the artist and art teacher Kerstin Wüstenhöfer-Loges.

Our cooperation partners are the Stiftung Starke, the Wasserwerke Königs-Wusterhausen (the local waterworks), Zeuthen Town Hall, and the Zeuthen support association and cultural association. State Secretary Martin Gorholt of the Ministry of Science and Art in Potsdam has taken on the patronage of this project, which is funded through the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport.

In the art project “Water”, the young people engage with the political explosiveness of the subject, as well as with the significance and beauty of water and of watery landscapes – including those of our own region. On our visits to museums and studios, we went to the Alte Nationalgalerie in Berlin, to the studio of the Neo-Impressionist Christopher Lehmpfuhl, and to see Prof. Klaus Staeck, President of the Akademie der Künste, Berlin.

On 22 June 2013, an exhibition of 100 pictures will open at the Löwenpalais of the Stiftung Starke, including medium- to large-format paintings on canvas as well as smaller graphic works and prints.

We would be delighted to invite you and your friends to our exhibition opening and the Summer Party that follows, and we look forward to your visit.
