Strong Support for the Arts
The Starke Foundation, based in Berlin-Grunewald, was established by Jörg Starke as a non-profit art foundation. Since its founding on December 6, 1988, the foundation has provided a dedicated space for the arts. Jörg Starke’s father, Peter Starke (a businessman and Honorary Consul of Monaco), was committed to the common good throughout his life and supported his son’s vision accordingly. The family villa has been owned by the Starke family since 1961.
The foundation’s mission is to promote young artists. All artistic disciplines are supported: painting and sculpture, architecture and design, music and composition, performance, installation, conceptual art, literature, and new media. This mission is brought to life particularly through the foundation’s comprehensive Artist in Residence program.
A broad funding program for emerging talents is one of the foundation’s core commitments. Through residencies, studios, and exhibition opportunities, artists are supported in realizing their ideas and projects. In addition, a dynamic schedule of exhibitions, symposia, and workshops promotes exchange between artists and a culture-interested public.
The Starke Foundation also facilitates a wide range of national and international connections – with museums, galleries, academies, and public institutions, as well as with figures from the worlds of culture, science, business, sports, and politics.
