Three decades of colour, myth and Berlin energy: exactly thirty years ago, in 1996, the Argentinian-born painter left his home city of Buenos Aires to make Berlin the centre of his creative life. As a former artist in residence, MAO returns for this anniversary to the place that decisively shaped his work.

The exhibition presents a powerful cross-section of three decades of uncompromising painting. MAO’s large-format, expressive works move between baroque opulence, musical inspiration – above all the world of opera and of Richard Wagner – and contemporary energy.

Celebrate thirty years of art history “made in Berlin” with us – an evening of art, encounters and cultural exchange in the Grunewald.
