“The Best of Bertolt Brecht”
19 January 2007

A musical and literary programme of the best of Bertolt Brecht.
She is accompanied by the expressive ensemble Piaccordia, consisting of double bass, cello, violin and accordion. You have not heard Brecht in this line-up before!
Every actor sooner or later puts together a musical and literary programme and calls themselves an actor and singer. The result is usually not very edifying musically and not very exciting interpretively, especially when one tries one’s hand at Bertolt Brecht again and again.
Winnie Böwe, however, really is a hybrid creature of actress and coloratura soprano, so she can sing even the most difficult Dessau and Weill in the original, and is not content with the greatest hits that everyone can sing along to.
You will hear exclusively songs from Brecht’s plays, which in most cases are not very well known. The stage and film actress approaches the songs of Hanns Eisler, Paul Dessau and Kurt Weill as a young woman of today.
