Dachstein:Cult goes Berlin
11 January – 26 February 2007
Europe’s highest-altitude cultural base, DACHSTEIN:CULT, goes on tour across Europe from January.
The icy cult base has existed since 2004; there you can still find original snow today and practise winter sports all year round.
International artists from different disciplines live and work together for about 14 days in close quarters.
What comes out of this concentrate of creativity?
Only the gondola attendant shares the gondola station with the artists, at exactly 2,700 metres above sea level, where the air (from an average altitude of 2,500 m) is already so thin and low in oxygen that sleep is correspondingly altered…
The Cool Tour kicks off on 11 January at the Stiftung Starke Berlin with an opening of the works of art created at almost 3,000 metres.
There will also be Bellini, sent exclusively by Dachstein.Cult patron Arrigo Cipriani of Harry’s Bar in Venice.
On 29 January the literary output can be heard and seen at the Austrian Cultural Forum Berlin: Franzobel is the most prominent glacier exotic.
The initiator of the highest artists’ shared flat is the writer and philosopher Monika Wogrolly. She also organises quite a few unusual summit meetings on the Dachstein, most recently a philosophers’ summit of practising philosophers (that is, philosophers with their own practice and a trade licence for business consulting).
On behalf of the international Dachstein:Cult patrons Jörg Starke (Berlin) and Arrigo Cipriani (Harry’s Bar), we would be delighted by your visit and interest.
