“Intervention” was the title of a much-noted exhibition at the Stiftung Starke on the subject of urbanism and urban development in Berlin in the 1990s, with contributions by twelve young artists from Berlin, New York, Budapest, Moscow and Rio de Janeiro.
The participating artists selected current tendencies in urban development, which they confronted with materials, mechanisms, locations and spaces, and manifested in works and models of an urban consciousness created for this exhibition. With objects, pictures and sculptural installations, the artists give concrete form to a strategy which, in the search for orientation, inscribes itself into the built environment.

Such a strategy can lead to a platform for individual escapades. This much-noted exhibition promoted not only dialogue between artists and the public but also engagement with so important a subject as urban planning in Berlin. In their works, the many young artists had taken up a highly topical theme that is of particular importance here in Berlin above all. The debate begun by the artists was continued in discussions and conversations among the visitors to the exhibition.

An exhibition catalogue was produced for “Intervention”. This publication was compiled and produced in-house by the foundation, without outside labour.
