“In the hour of our death we shall rid ourselves of the vessel of our existence;
and even before then, born moment by moment into our
life, the world behind the world is already far greater than
our fear.”
(from: “The Various Stories of Memory”,
prose and poems, Christiane Maria Frohne)
This introductory text, handed personally to each individual visitor on a visiting card as a “signpost”, also serves as a “key” to the “Three Rooms of the Various Stories of Memory”. They merge into one another.
Arrangement:
The first room
Two women and one man are positioned on seats, “free-floating”, approx. 2 m
above the floor. The Stillness. The Presence.
The second room
filled with slowly spreading light alternating with darkness. The Transformation.
The third room
Above the floor a mount, on it porcelain: The Vessel.
In its relationship to space, the work opens up an expanded approach to the concept of
“visual poetry”.
What can be experienced is an aesthetic of simple high quality and a relationship between text, materials
and participants that spreads its magic.
