Argentine Art in Berlin

Ana NEGRO uses photography as a resource for approaching the desired object aesthetically. At regular intervals she invites a group of contemporary dancers to her studio-workshop in Buenos Aires and, under particular slogans, stages the freely flowing movements of their bodies, with nudity – like the human soul – as the first medium. An apprentice choreographer, photographer and artist by profession, she mobilises the visual elements of this discourse by establishing different patterns, introducing new frames and new orchestrations with anonymous bodies, all on the same page in the history of the skin.

Yanina is the youngest artist in the group. Her large-scale works use collage techniques, ink and oil on canvas. In the works on show, the icons of Hollywood and the figure of the tango are interwoven as a symbol of the splendour of an era. Here the persona is overtaken by the media, and the press is presented as a support for the luminaries. The representation of women takes up the theme of the sensual tango in an erotic and provocative manner, accompanying this dance that is so popular all over the world.

Judy works with an ink and oil transfer technique on canvas, in medium and large formats. Influenced by the culture of China, her works feature archetypal figures such as the dragon and the warrior.

Cristina works in oil on canvas in large formats. Nature and characters are presented in dreamlike spaces. Her Surrealist works cross the concerns of Pop with figures from world literature.

Raquel is a versatile artist who uses a variety of elements to narrate her concern with identity.

More than an artist, she is a “collector” of objects, and she makes them herself. Taking a fashion plate as protagonist for her sewing kit, she creates varied and diverse landscapes, boxes, books, mirrors and curtains made from different materials. All of them are “ONE”.

Leoni’s abstraction invites us to recognise, in her agile and shrill brushstrokes, single-celled organisms, microscopic life, the seed of creation without human intervention.

Elisa works with the theme of urban signs in a desperate search. Dissent, caught in a monochrome grid, bears witness to the constructivist tradition of the River Plate region.

Patricia works in large formats in oil and acrylic on canvas. Her pictures raise colour on colour in a serene atmosphere. Working with a soft texture, she brings sky and earth together and creates imaginary landscapes and visions in which the horizon is the main theme.
