The oboe – the instrument best known from “Peter and the Wolf”, where it plays the duck. And the harp – the instrument of the angels ....
But oboe and harp can do more than that! Let the “Duo Distensione” (from the Italian for “relaxation”) transport you into other worlds of sound and enjoy a concert that is both relaxing and exciting, an unforgettable concert for all the senses! What makes us special is not only the combination of oboe and harp but also our wide range of sound, from the “classical” repertoire to jazzy pieces. Be surprised by a unique listening experience – a concert for young and old!
With works by Bach, Grieg, Gershwin, Joplin, Rimsky-Korsakov and others.
Mykyta Sierov was born in Kyiv (Ukraine), where he received his first music lessons at the age of six. He attended the Central Specialised Music School in Kyiv and then moved on to the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine. His early awards include a 1st prize at the international competition for young performers “XXI Century Art” in Vorzel, Ukraine, in 2002 (solo category) and the Grand Prix at the same competition in 2005. While still a student he held the post of solo oboist in the orchestra of the “National Children’s Opera” and later in the “Presidential Symphony Orchestra” of Ukraine.
He began his studies at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar in 2007 under Prof. Matthias Bäcker and completed them in 2014 with a master’s degree.
Master classes with A. Ogrintchouck and S. Fransis encouraged him to widen his oboe repertoire and to compose music himself.
As an orchestral musician he played several concerts under the baton of Christian Thielemann, together with students and professors of the HfM and the Staatskapelle Weimar. He gained further experience in the “classical field” with, for example, the “Kammerphilharmonie Leipzig”, the “Philharmonisches Orchester Gera”, the “Kammerphilharmonie Wernigerode” and at the Erfurt Opera, under conductors such as Marek Janowski and Georg Biller, among others. These engagements also involved numerous guest performances in Germany and abroad, some of which were documented by Radio Deutschland and MDR.
Jessyca Flemming was born in Berlin and studied harp in Weimar with Prof. Mirjam Schröder, in Berlin with Prof. Maria Graf and in Rostock with Prof. Andreas Wehrenfennig.
She began her musical training on the piano at almost six years old, before starting harp lessons at the age of seven. Since then, concerts as a soloist and in duo or trio have taken her across Germany and also abroad, for example to Prague and Paris.
She won a first prize at the age of eleven in the “Jugend musiziert” competition, and further prizes for piano and harp at national and international competitions followed, as well as support from the Yehudi Menuhin Stiftung Live Music Now, the Neue Liszt Stiftung Weimar, the Ernst-Freiberger-Stiftung and the Richard-Wagner-Verband Trier.
Since the end of 2014 Jessyca has had a guest contract with the Südthüringisches Staatstheater/Puppentheater Meiningen, where she can be seen and heard as the stage harpist in Saint-Exupéry’s “The Little Prince” (“Der kleine Prinz”). From the 2018 season she also takes part in the work “The Gift of the Magi” (“Die Gabe der Weisen”) after O. Henry.
Since the 2018 season Jessyca has also had a guest contract with the Konzerthaus Berlin.
As an orchestral musician she has played under the baton of Christian Thielemann and Marek Janowski, among others, and has appeared as a stand-in with the “Robert-Schumann-Philharmonie Chemnitz”, the “Thüringen Philharmonie Gotha” and other orchestras.
Master classes with a wide range of harpists complement her training on the concert harp, for example with Margit Anna Süß-Schellenberger, Edward Witsenburg and Isabelle Moretti. She also attended courses with Dominig Bouchaud (Celtic hook harp), Park Stickney (jazz harp) and Robin Huw Bowen (Welsh triple harp).
