NOT ARZT – Exhibition by Alexander Dik and Robert Gericke

Painting as diagnosis, the canvas as operating theatre:
Under the title NOT ARZT (“Emergency Doctor”), the painters Alexander Dik and Robert Gericke present their new works.

The exhibition will be opened with an introduction by their mentor, Andreas Amrhein.

Dik and Gericke completed their master's studies at the Akademie für Malerei Berlin at the end of 2024. They are united
by a school, a teacher, a keen eye on the present. In their pictorial language, however, they follow
radically different paths. While one resorts to expressive, raw gestures, the other
develops precise, multilayered compositions. The arc of tension between the two positions
makes this exhibition a dialogue about painting itself. Both artists engage with the crises and
wounds of our time – fearless, intense and deeply rooted in a knowledge of
art history. They see their painting as a mirror of reality and, at the same time, attempt
to open up spaces of healing.

The exhibition NOT ARZT shows how painting can be both ruthlessly revealing and healing.
