Chamber Concert with Piadeux
26 March 2010

In the broad sense, we can describe the music of Piadeux as chamber music, since the equality of the instruments plays a major part.
Piadeux, from Berlin, are Silva Finger on violin and Gerhard A. Schiewe on accordion.
If we are lucky enough to be guests in the world of Piadeux, we feel the incredible magic that radiates from them and captivates us from the very first moment.
Piadeux is not only an interplay of instruments, but also an interplay between the sexes and their attributes:
Male/female, hard/soft, whether rubbing against each other or sounding together, gently furious and captivating.
Reverence and pride meet magic and charm.
A subtle high-wire act meets deep vibrations, and a sudden change of roles creates another dimension.
What matters is not whether tango, musette or instrumental fado is played, but how, and with what undertone in each context.
Silva Finger and Gerhard A. Schiewe act not only as a catalyst between worlds and emotional states – they are part of the whole.
The fascination
that emanates from them is the inspiration between them.
Gerhard A. Schiewe’s arrangements let composers such as Piazzolla, Galliano, Portal and “Madredeus” sound in an interpretation never heard before, in which they meet his own compositions.
We share their delight in their first CD.
Piadeux has existed since autumn 2009. The “Pi” originates in the ensemble Piaccordia, to which both musicians belong.
The various programmes of Piaccordia show the musicians’ broad musical spectrum, versatility and curiosity:
Piaccordia are Silva Finger on violin, Danuta Jacobasch on cello, Gerhard A. Schiewe on accordion and Wolfgang Musick on double bass. The ensemble came together in 2004. The versatile, sensitive arrangements are by Gerhard A. Schiewe.
The musicians delight audiences with their ensemble playing at the premiere of “Tribute To Jacques Brel”, with Zazie de Paris (known as the hostess of the legendary night salons “Rendezvous at Midnight” (“Rendezvous um Mitternacht”) at the Bar jeder Vernunft) and the Dutch singer Cornelis Voogdt on vocals, at the Admiralspalast Berlin and at the Taeter Theater Heidelberg; with “Cornelis” in “Tulip Songs” (“Tulpenlieder”) and “Sea Shore Songs” during the football World Cup in Stuttgart, Leipzig, Frankfurt and Nuremberg; and several times at the Embassy of the Netherlands in Berlin and on Deutschlandradio Kultur.
With Marko Jovanovic as soloist on the blues harp at the 150th anniversary celebration of the company Hohner, at the official ceremony and in the supporting programme, at the gala evening of the 2009 Harmonica World Championships in Trossingen, at the harmonica festival “Promonika” in Graz and at the accordion festival in Marburg, they move on to another musical level.
The actress and singer Winnie Böwe and Piaccordia delight audiences with quite different tones in “Brecht Songs from Plays” (“Brecht Lieder aus Theaterstücken”) at the Brechthaus Berlin, at the Kurt Weill Festival Dessau and at the Theaterkahn Dresden in a double concert with Sebastian Krämer, which has already been broadcast on the radio several times.
Whether Piaccordia is playing the music for the radio play “Two Very Serious Ladies” (“Zwei sehr ernsthafte Damen”) by Heike Tauch, or in the supporting programme of the Berlinale, or at various events of Humboldt University in Berlin, the strengths of each individual find ever new facets in togetherness. The musicians are supported by sponsors including Hohner, the Lions Club Berlin and the Stiftung Starke at the Löwenpalais.
