Chamber Concert with Piadeux

We can describe the music of Piadeux as chamber music in the broad sense, since the equality of the instruments plays a major part.
Piadeux from Berlin are Silva Finger on violin and Gerhard A. Schiewe on accordion.

If we are fortunate enough to be guests in the world of Piadeux, we feel the incredible magic that radiates from them and captivates us from the very start.
Piadeux is not only an interplay of instruments but also of the sexes and their attributes:
male/female, hard/soft, rubbing against one another/sounding together, gently furious and ravishing.
Reverence and pride meet magic and charm.
A subtle high-wire act meets deep vibrations, and a sudden change of roles creates another dimension.
What matters is not whether tango, musette or instrumental fado is played, but how, and with what undertone in each context.
Silva Finger and Gerhard A. Schiewe act not only as a catalyst between worlds and states of feeling – they are part of the whole.
The fascination they exude is the inspiration between them.
Gerhard A. Schiewe’s arrangements make composers such as Piazzolla, Galliano, Portal and “Madredeus” sound in an interpretation never heard before, in which they meet original compositions.
We share their joy in their first CD.
Piadeux has existed since autumn 2009. The “Pi” has its origin in the ensemble Piaccordia, to which both musicians belong.
The various programmes of Piaccordia show the broad musical spectrum, the versatility and the curiosity of the musicians:
Piaccordia are Silva Finger on violin, Danuta Jacobasch on cello, Gerhard A. Schiewe on accordion and Wolfgang Musick on double bass. The ensemble came together in 2004. The versatile, sensitive arrangements come from the pen of Gerhard A. Schiewe.
At the premiere of “Tribute to Jacques Brel” with Zazie de Paris (known as the hostess of the legendary night salons “Rendezvous at Midnight” [“Rendezvous um Mitternacht”] at the Bar jeder Vernunft) and the Dutch singer Cornelis Voogdt on vocals, at the Admiralspalast Berlin and at the Taeter Theater Heidelberg, the musicians delight audiences with their interplay – as they do with “Cornelis” in “Tulip Songs” (“Tulpenlieder”) and “Sea Shore Songs” during the football World Cup in Stuttgart, Leipzig, Frankfurt and Nuremberg, and on several occasions at the Dutch Embassy in Berlin and on Deutschlandradio Kultur.
With Marko Jovanovic as soloist on blues harp – at the ceremony and in the supporting programme of Hohner’s 150th anniversary celebrations, at the gala evening of the 2009 Harmonica World Championships in Trossingen, at the “Promonika” accordion festival in Graz and at the accordion festival in Marburg – they move on to a further musical level.
The actress and singer Winnie Böwe and Piaccordia thrill audiences with very different tones in “Brecht Songs from Plays” (“Brecht Lieder aus Theaterstücken”) at the Brechthaus Berlin, at the Kurt Weill Festival Dessau, and on the Theaterkahn Dresden in a double concert with Sebastian Krämer, which has already been broadcast on the radio several times.
Whether Piaccordia are playing the music for the radio play “Two Very Serious Ladies” (“Zwei sehr ernsthafte Damen”) by Heike Tauch, or performing as part of the supporting programme of the Berlinale or at various events of the Humboldt University of Berlin, the strengths of each individual always find new facets in their togetherness. The musicians are supported by sponsors including Hohner, the Lions Club Berlin and the Stiftung Starke at the Löwenpalais.
