Famous Eyes

Artists, photographers, actors and architects always have to look at the world from a slightly different angle than the rest of the population. Otherwise the results of their work would hardly stand out. It would be interesting, thought Geo and Daniel Fuchs, to take a closer look at the eyes of these creative people. So the photo artists began

three years ago to photograph the eyes of celebrities with a Polaroid camera. At first glance we would hardly have recognised them: not David Copperfield, nor Nina Hagen, nor Christian Lacroix. Nor Uschi Obermaier, Rammstein or Anton Corbijn. The blame lies with the photographers Daniel & Geo Fuchs and their wonderfully selective perception. The two set out, in fact, to look celebrities, artists, designers, musicians, architects and actors deep in the eyes.

Since 1999 the photo artists Daniel & Geo Fuchs have been portraying artists, photographers,
designers and others for their project FAMOUS EYES. So far they have photographed, among others, Louise Bourgeois,
Paul McCarthy, Shirin Neshat, Dolce & Gabbana, Daniel Libeskind, Bryan Adams,
Peter Lindbergh, Philippe Starck, Andres Serrano and Maurizio Cattelan.
