BAI LING :
8 SPIRITS
8 June – 31 October 2007

“BAI LING :: 8 SPIRITS, Photographs by Udo Spreitzenbarth”
Moreover, Spreitzenbarth’s masterly play with light and shadow condenses the scene into a moment of almost hyperreal quality. That one moment that says everything, which the artist captures, visualises and makes reproducible for the viewer. All the photographs are digital inkjet fine-art prints, produced with the Epson Stylus Pro 9800 on Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper 250.
Now the artist, with his extraordinary feeling for light and scenery, takes the next step in his remarkable career: as a WORLD PREMIERE he presents his single-theme series of images at the Löwenpalais, Berlin.
With this work, Udo Spreitzenbarth wants to present a new and unique vision of Bai Ling’s femininity.
Bai Ling – a strong, incredibly present and extremely hard-working woman – is his muse.
Walking the tightrope between deliberate staging and spontaneous reflexes, photographer and muse – who in these photographs never becomes a mere object – uncover unknown sides and depths: precisely 8 SPIRITS.
The first public showing of this international touring photography exhibition, “BAI LING :: 8 SPIRITS”, took place on 11 February, during the 2007 Berlinale, at an exclusive evening for invited guests.
