About the foundation
A non-profit art foundation in Berlin-Grunewald, founded in 1988.

Strong for the arts
The Stiftung Starke was established by Jörg Starke as a non-profit art foundation and founded on 6 December 1988. His father Peter Starke, a businessman and Honorary Consul of Monaco, was committed to the common good throughout his life and supported his son’s plan. The villa has been in the family since 1961 and has belonged to the foundation since 1988.
Its mission is to support young artists in every discipline: painting and sculpture, architecture and design, music and composition, performance, installation, conceptual art, literature and new media. At its centre is the artist-in-residence programme.
Support
The foundation supports emerging artists with residencies, studios and the opportunity to show their work in public. Exhibitions, symposia and workshops bring artists into conversation with an interested public.
The foundation also builds national and international connections – with museums, galleries, academies and public institutions, as well as with people from culture, science, business, sport and politics.
